A WORLD OF SCOUTING, CELEBRATING THE 25TH WORLD SCOUT JAMBOREE IN SOUTH KOREA 2023

A World Jamboree is, to many, a once-in-a-lifetime event. World Scout Jamborees began in 1920 in London, England. These Jamborees generally happen every four years. While the Jamboree has a general format of activities, sometimes Mother Nature can get in the way. Scouts always find a way to have fun, no matter what. In the summer of 2023, the jamboree was held in SaeManGeum, South Korea, with the theme “Draw Your Dream.”

Planning and execution failures, in conjunction with the jamboree site flooding and a heat wave, led to health issues among attendees. The South Korean government, in cooperation with the World Organization of the Scout movement, decided to evacuate the attendees eight days into the Jamboree due to Typhoon Khanun.

Several contingents moved their camp to places outside the Jamboree site and stayed in the country the rest of the time that was scheduled. This book tells the story of the World Scouting Movement, the 25th World Scout Jamboree, the US Contingent’s experiences pre- and post-jamboree, and World Scout Jamboree history.

ALL US CONTINGENT MEMBERS WILL RECEIVE A COMPLIMENTARY COPY AS PART OF THEIR REGISTRATION

This book is dedicated to Norfleet “Fleet” Johnston and his wife Ella and their

dedication to the Scouting movement through the years.
