Getting ready
So it's early days to break this kit in, but given the extent to which Philmont's ways of doing things tend to differ from the backpacking mainstream, the best way to prepare our crew to use the official bear bags, and do large-pot patrol cooking, is to have the actual materials from Philmont. Quality is overall high (though we'll need to keep an eye on the bags, as they seem a little fragile, though they may surprise me), and weight isn't bad for what the items are. We'll have them thoroughly broken in (and vice versa) by our trek.
